THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE 2016 WAYNE EVENTING DERBY
The Wayne Eventing Derby will take place April 15-17 at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois. All dressage and jumping phases will run in the Lamplight state of the art arenas. Prize lists, entry blanks and entry information will be on the Derby website www.wayneeventingderby.org after the first of the year. Opening day for entries is March 17. There will be two ways to enter, on line or by U.S. Postal Service.
This year, $6.00 of every entry will be used to benefit two completely volunteer run Not for Profit organizations, Midwest Dachshund Rescue, Inc. and Illinois-Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dogs, Inc. Without the dedication of their workers and support from the canine community, these two 501 (C) (3) programs could not exist. When someone donates money to a cause, a question sometimes surfaces. Does my money actually go to where it is most needed? In these two organizations, it does, and it also makes a tremendous difference.
The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program, T.I.P., has again selected the Wayne Eventing Derby to participate in their award program. High score and reserve high score Thoroughbreds eligible for the program will receive special awards provided they have proof of eligibility. Refer to the TIP page in the Derby website, www.wayneeventingderby.org, for information. If entering through evententries.com, there is now a field for the TIP number. Competitors should make sure to show their proof to the Derby secretary when picking up packets!
At Federation licensed competitions, horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhino- pneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. This documentation may be checked by the Derby secretary.
IDCTA members may fulfill their volunteer hours by helping at the Derby. Contact Becky at RMCBowen@aol.com for information.
